The AC system is very fickle about quantity of refrigerant that is in the system. Too much or too little will impair it’s function.
Your best best is to start with a proper AC service - evacuate the systems, pull a vacuum and see if it holds (leak indicator) and refill with proper amount of refrigerant with dye. The label under the hood clearly indicates how much (either 875g - 1.9 lbs, or like mine 825g - 1.8 lbs).
Then monitor for leaks with the help of the UV dye.
Just adding refrigerant is hit and miss at best.
