tb issues are common Posted by Snowmobile [Email] (#686) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Snowmobile) on Mon, 15 Apr 2019 19:34:40 In Reply to: 2008 with 195K miles, MI-Roger [Profile/Gallery] , Sat, 13 Apr 2019 12:33:07 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I've had issues with one of mine. Usually the first step is to clean them, and doing so made the issues go away for about a year. That said, it had looked pretty clean anyway. Eventually it died on a long trip on a day when everything was closed :-(
So it is a good idea to have a known good one available.
JustinHiFi's video is fantastic and any saab owner should be aware of how to reset the TB because often a clean with tb cleaner and a reset will get more mileage out of it, or at least get you home!
Vacuum lines are worth replacing, and when the TB went, the bigger hose that goes to the back of it was crumbling. The shop we had to leave our car at wrapped it in electrical tape and it has lasted about 2 years so far... Good reminder to find an appropriate hose. The original is tapered iirc and not readily available.
I should probably test the old tb to see what is wrong with it... lots of stuff to work on though!
