ATF Drain & Re-Fill and new Fill Plug too Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 28 Apr 2019 13:36:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
It has been about 40K miles since my last Drain & Refill so I took advantage of today's gloriously sunny afternoon with mild temps to Drain & Re-Fill the ATF at my 195K oil change. At the conclusion I fitted my Grainger sourced 18mm hydraulic fill plug with 3/8 hex recess in the transmission case fill hole.
I inspected my old factory original plug with the T55 recess and saw that half the teeth are sheared to about 3/4 of their depth. I saved it as a spare, don't know why, but maybe it will come in handy to someone some day. It may actually be easier to engage the T55 bit into the recess of the factory plug compared to the same with the 3/8 hex recess but those teeth sure do shear easily!
