Rock Auto - my return history okay, just not personal Posted by Mark in Marine [Email] (#1837) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mark in Marine) on Mon, 6 May 2019 13:46:08 In Reply to: Re: Don't use Timken crankshaft seal 331227H, Nate, Mon, 6 May 2019 07:45:31 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Last Fall I ordered a brake master cylinder for my 2005 BMW from Rock Auto: a Centric MC for about 1/2 the cost of the BMW part. The BMW part (made by ATE) is assembled with a snap ring designed to make rebuilding as close to impossible as they can get (no holes, no leverage points).
The Centric description said nothing about country of origin, but the box indicated the part was sourced from China (not Taiwan). I inspected it carefully, and the machining all looked good. Fortunately, the shop manual specified a bench bleed, and the main shaft seal leaked like crazy during bleeding. It would have killed the booster diaphragm. I took photos, sent it in on warranty / bad part claim and RockAuto gave me my money back within a week.
The only thing is, this was all done "electronically" - no way to do anything like call someone up to discuss. So if the process goes 'off the rails' there is no phone number to call.
In the case of the bearing I have, it's got a 12 month warranty, but it's not what I expected to receive.
