NEW 5 SPEED AND QUAIF IN MY 2000 AERO Posted by saabsince 93b [Email] (#972) [Profile/Gallery] (more from saabsince 93b) on Fri, 10 May 2019 10:44:17 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I just installed a new 5 speed built by the Infamous Jerry Danner owner of Mile High Saab in Denver.
In addition to a full rebuild we added Quaife ATB limited slip differential. My car has just under 300HP and what a difference this makdes in reducing torque steer I have driven Aeros over 200,000 miles and this mod is a revelation.
I also have the genuinesaab.com short shift kit installed and my own re-imagined shift mechanism on the trans with zero tolerance ball joints. Awesome shoft shift and positive action.
A 5 SPEED CAN BE CRISP AND CLEAN, AND WITH THE QUAIFE PUT THE POWER TO THE GROUD.
I am happy to answer any questions. I have been wanting to make this leap for a long time and wow is it great!!! Happy to share it with all of you.
FROM QUAIFE: "On front wheel drive cars the Quaife ATB limited slip differential also delivers significant performance benefits during heavy braking. In this situation the Quaife differential’s inherent torque transfer characteristics work in reverse to transfer torque away from the locking wheel. This enhances deceleration, delaying the intrusion of electronic ABS systems and allowing drivers to brake later and deeper with the Quaife ATB limited slip differential than is possible with a standard ‘open’ differential unit.
Add these benefits together and it’s hardly surprising that in outright performance terms the Quaife ATB differential can make a remarkable difference compared to an ‘open’ differential. Back to back independent testing by Redline Magazine on a RenaultSport Clio 200 has proven that even on a short circuit lap times are reduced by over 2 seconds, making the Quaife ATB differential an excellent value for money upgrade."
