. . . And one more thing to check - caliper & disk Posted by Mark in Marine [Email] (#1837) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Mark in Marine) on Mon, 20 May 2019 06:07:07 In Reply to: Scratchy grinding noise except when turning left, steve, Sun, 19 May 2019 17:35:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
You've gotten the two best suggestions. But also look for any interference between rotor and caliper. One of the two 9-5 SC's I maintain had an issue like this but in reverse, only a "scraping" noise turning left, and only audible while going slowly with the window down.
In that case the disk edge corrosion and caliper caused a scrape that at first seemed impossible. I couldn't see any bare metal, the CV joint and wheel bearing seemed fine, the rust on the rotor edge was minimal, but there was still noise. A flat file applied lightly to the caliper edge kept it silent for the past 1.5 years and about 10K miles.
