Headlight Level Switch Longevity Posted by Doug W [Email] (#2371) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Doug W) on Fri, 24 May 2019 21:49:24 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
About four years ago I replaced the front headlight level switch. The lights had gone to full down and would not come back up. At that point the car had 150,000 miles on it. Now it's at 201,000.
Now I have a new problem. Light came back on. Code says it's intermittent. I can watch the headlights hunt up and down and never stay stationary. I'm wondering if this is the extension wire to the switch, the switch itself or the controller. I have a leaky oil pump o-ring and the switch is covered in oil. I'm thinking that could be contributing too.
What is typical for headlight level switch longevity? 150,000 for OEM, less for aftermarket? How about the extension cable. Does that wear out?
All this started for me when my indie replaced the serpentine cover after replacing the crank seal. The problems were very intermittent at first and now it's constant.
Any thoughts? Experiences?
