I have a similar problem.. which is triggered when i fill the tank.. The gauge will occasionally fluctuate between full & empty...and the fuel light come on.. Then it eventually settles back to normal after I've consumed a gallon or so of fuel...
I've been able to pretty much eliminate this issue not overfilling at the pump.. and stopping just short of full...
so i assumed some type of float is binding up.. depending on the fuel level
