2005 Linear wagon at 120,000 miles
Am in the process of replacing the turbo after not being able to find the cause of the CEL. (I had changed EVERYthing.)
Have discovered that the O-ring at the v-clamp where the inlet cobra joins the turbo was not sealing.
Any opinion on whether this would have been the cause of the CEL? I can only assume it was.
I am now not sure, after fixing the O-ring, whether to;
A. button it all up, (re-fill coolant, re-fill oil, re-assemble the inlet components, etc) in the hope that the code is gone
OR
B. continue with the turbo change knowing that it is likely going to need changing soon anyway and I have ALL the parts to do so all set out and ready to go. This is the longest I have had a turbo last. Would hate to have to go back in and start again in a short time. I checked on the inlet side and the center shaft seems solid. No movement. Blades are not perfect but not wrecked either.
Votes on A or B would be appreciated.
Also, after finally recently sourcing the little red lock-fitting and o-ring at the top of the inlet pipe, I broke it in the process of removing. Aaaarrggghhh!!! That thing was not lettin' go. It was so hard to get off.
Hilarious really after not having it for so long only to break it within days of sourcing it and installing.
In fact, now that I think about it, this whole issue has been like a slapstick comedy....
