I am a bit confused on this issue too. I seem to accept that the on-star/GPS one is an important part of those systems and need an OE replacement but I read somewhere that the antenna for others are built into the windshield from some MY year point forward so a dummy can? do the trick. Used ones that are good are rare but I did find one that is now on one of the units in our flight wing. I have a 2005 Arc with no onstar/gps that is badly in need of one. I think i will go with the US$32 OE unit from eeuro once I need enough part to justify the high base shipping cost to Canada. Interestingly, the used OE part from the UPULL did not fit as well as the original on our 2005 did or on the car I requisitioned it from. It sits a bit proud of the roof so I feared it would leak which it, from appearances on the headlining does not. Nothing like an ugly bead of silicon to mess up the aesthetics.
