was the fix, it was not. Within a few days it's voltage dropped below 12v. Ordered a new + battery cable, installed it a week later (yes, a royal PIA as others have noted). Jump-started, drove it for a while to charge the battery, checked the voltage, reading 14.2VDC. Relieved to know the alternator & regulator are working normally. All is good.
