Not sure I understand the first statement? I see TML's original post was edited, so maybe looking for one without roof rails? Tbh, in Canada, the ones without roof rails are more common, almost too common, at least for 04/05. I personally like those years the best. But many 06+ are without roof rails. Personally if one came without roof rails, I would add them from a junkyard car because they are way better than the standard mounting points in the door frames like on the sedan (we have both).
But yes, good wagons are harder to come by. I'd say the #1 thing to avoid as with any car is rust. A good maintenance history is important also. Lots of info can be found by searching this bb as many have asked about buying used 9-5's in the past, but rear suspension (no need to replace springs, but other things yes unless you like eating tires), coolant bypass (replace with hoses), DIC, TB, xmas tree lights from ABS unit, hvac bits, etc are all common things to repair after 100+ miles...
