ACC error code 11 - some questions

2004 9-5 Arc.
I am experiencing either very hot or very cold air being discharged from the center console rear opening, and sometime hot air on the passenger dash vents.
I did the AAC recal and got fault code 11.
I took apart the dash and was staring at the stepper motor marked ‘R” (passenger side) and removed that. I found that the plastic arm had a crack at the far end, in the ‘usual’ place.
What I also found was surprising was the hex sided shaft that the stepper motor shaft slips into was cracked in 3-4 places along the angled end of the shaft. See this link for a picture that is identical to my shaft breaking.

So my questions are: can/how is the shaft replaced? Where to get a replacement? Plastic or metal?
Where is a good place to get a replacement arm (I’ve read that the saab part has been reworked and is beefier – get from eeuroparts.)
(BTW, I may have interchanged the two stepper motors – could that have caused any problem? I don’t see how as the part numbers stamped on the cases are identical)
As always, Thanks for your great help
