Since you have a 2004, and you say the link shows the kind of damage you have to your shaft, I believe you have a chassis number that suggests you may want to look at the bulletin TSB 854-2579 (try this link for a pdf of the bulletin:

it might help.
I did this repair, according the the TSB, which essentially provides a bigger armature male fitting to fit into the cracking hexagonal female tube blend door shaft and it corrected my problems... though i have not been able to reset the acc codes, nor can my mechanic. I have a tech 2 as well.... but the actual problem is fixed, even if codes still persist....
You may have success using one of the other blend door kits (a variety out there) though when i researched all this for my 2004, i kept seeing kits for the stepper motors and shafts from the 99-2003 model years... and not the blue shaft with hexagonal structure which led me to performing the TSB repair above.
someone else may be able to chime inon success of those repair techniques for a 2004 -2005 model year??
hope this helps.
ps, i bought the repair kit parts (12 765 864 )
from esaabparts.... for like 35 bucks each. steep price for a tiny piece of plastic...
