I cured a drip on pavement leak on our 2006 Gripen (formerly called a Dame Edna) by using a not too well known trick. It consists of religiously cleaning the area ( I removed the top engine mount - see elsewhere on this site for details and supported the engine below) and applying JB Weld for metal.Force and lather it into the metal seam in the area of the chain tensioner and out. The trick its getting it super clean so the job is 98 percent prep and 2 percent sealing. Apply liberally anywhere along the horizontal seam you have leakage or seepage or sweating. Force it into the ultra clean groove. This little known technique reduced oil loss by 90% plus and its been close to 3 years so it's at least a semi-permanent repair. I wasn't too confident it would work but it was recommended by a mechanic who knew Saabs and had adopted the technique itself. Saves a ton of money and grief. Difficulty - two stars due to access. Results - five star so far and I am a poet that didn't know it. I will christen it the SaabB235TCCLJBWM-RevA fix for short.
