My failure was associated with a careless air bag replacement Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 11 Aug 2019 05:43:42 In Reply to: Clock Spring Swap, Itsasaab, Sat, 10 Aug 2019 17:38:23 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Like you I was sweating bullets whether a used clockspring would be available and work. When Phil at K&N Auto removed the steering wheel in my '08 to swap out the clockspring, he discovered the connectors had not been properly seated. He fixed that issue and the problem disappeared! It has been over a year now with no re-occurrence.
He attributed it to a slightly careless airbag replacement by the Dealership Tech.
