Jay,
I'd rather say that the turbo size is a reason why it is difficult to extract the same kind of power from the LPT than the Aero.
But the main reason why it's "stupid" to extract too much power from the LPT is the weaker hardware... It just can't handle as much power as the Aero can. For comparison note that e.g Nordic only offer 260 hp for the 9-5 Aero Auto. This is not (contrary to the 9K Aero auto) due to a different turbocharger/hardware, but simply that the Auto gearbox isn't equipped to handle 300 hp.
But then again it's everyone's task to assess what they think is a reasonable amount of tuning for their car given their driving style, usage of the car, maintenance "ambition" etc etc.
I have chosen to upgrade my car, but I am aware of the potential downsides and what I can do to help prevent them as far as possible...
