The E34 5 Series had the same wiper control, and yes, it
was useful, as was the third stalk - push it in, and rotate
through the various computer functions, rather than taking your
hands off the wheel to push buttons. I also liked the computer
status display under the speedo/tach rather than off to the side.

While we're at it:

Sanity on the night panel/SID alarms. For example, if you have
the speed warning set, and night panel engaged (ie SID is OFF),
and you hit your warning speed - you hear the chime, but nothing
lights up to tell you what it is! I don't know if other failures
reported by the SID (failed bulb, to pick one) would not be
illuminated if in night panel mode, but they all should!

Better seats.
Sports suspension.

Option to combine these two in a sports package (ala BMW) without
having to go to the Aero.

I've kind of gotten used to the outdoor temp display.
Make it full time - it's replaced by other SID functions
like the averages. Maybe mount it in the overhead console?

Better use of console space - move the window controls,
etc. Might allow for innovative way to hide a phone
rather than have those clip-on adapters. Taurus does
a good job here, as I'm sure others do.

More storage in the doors, or at least more useful. The
existing cubbies are not deep enough - eveb small items like
parking and toll receipts fall out when I open the door if
there's only a little breeze. Make them deeper, and/or
hinge the armrest so it folds up, and use the space under
it. So then you've got some "invisible" storage as well
(1995 Alfa 164).

A center armrest that 1) doesn't slope down at the front, 2) is
longer or can be moved farther forward, and 3) is wide enough
for two arms.

Re-do the storage bin under the improved/larger armrest and
provide slotted/bracketed support for CD and or cassettes/phone.
(from 1989 Merkur Scorpio).

Move the little change holder to a flip-down compartment
on the dash: easier to reach, hides the goods from prying
eyes (Scorpio, again).

Better controls for the mirrors: just mount a knurled
knob on a joystick, with three switch positions: left,
right and center/off. Easier to use, less chance of
accidentally adjusting the mirror. (Scorpio, again,
though I saw most recently saw this on a rental Mazda
626).

And, finally - a hatchback (9000. Thought I was going
to say Scorpio?). Hey, these are wishes, right?
