So me and a friend of mine did a little test
these days. 9-5 Aero 5spd vs a 330i coupe Manual.
The 330i coupe is being sold as a 6.5sec performer from 0-62 in Switzerland
It has 231Hp at sea level
The 9-5 Aero as a 6.9sec performer from 0-62
It has 230Hp up to 10000feet of altitude 240Hp in overboost
The test was performed at an altitude of around 700m cold
day temp was around 12C
Cars were both launched from 40Km/h to 145Km/h
At the end of 2nd gear, the 330i had lost 1 car lenght,
at the end of 3rd gear the 330i had lost 3 car lenghts.
The test was done twice with the same result...
My Aero was on winter tires 215/55/16 and the 330i was
having summer tires, so he had more traction then me.
The result was a rather surprised BMW driver ;)
No question about this, the 9-5 Aero truly benefits
from its adavanced Turbo as the higher you get the
more easily it pulls away from similar non Turbo cars.
Happy SAABing :)
