Check the following link for info on HID lights. You can also do a web search for "Xenon lights" and come up with some sources for aftermarket lights. To do a 100% _proper_ job you need new light assemblies, high voltage power supplies, and xenon tubes. Figure $1000 USD at the very minimum. For Audis it is more like $1400 USD. Since Saab has never offered factory xenons (to my knowledge) you will not be able to find the housings.
The factory systems come with self-levelling (a computer, step motors and level sensors). These are required in Europe, but not in the USA. They are intended to help keep from blinding other drivers when your car is heavily loaded. The xenon lights emit nearly 3 times as much light as conventional halogens!
They really work great - my wife's A4 has them. They make all other lighting systems seem dim by comparison, esp on unmarked, poorly lit back roads.
Here is one source:
http://www.xenonshop.com/home.html
These lights are _not_ entirely equivalent to the factory systems since they use your existing light housings, which are incorrectly designed for xenon use. If you use these aftermarket systems you will not get the full benefit of the xenon technology, and you will blind oncoming drivers.
Want more discussions? Go to AudiWorld.com forums and do a search for "xenon". This has been discussed for ages.
If I were in your shoes, and wanted more candle power, I would get a set of xenon driving or fog lamps.
