1. Let the car cool down.
2. Slide the locking clip from the 10-pin electrical connector out and remove said connector.
3. Remove the 4 torx screws securing the DI to the head.
4. Carefully and slowly lift the DI from the back a small amount, then the front a small amount, until each boot is free from the plug. It's like removing a suction cup from a flat surface - it's more difficult to remove by pulling straight out, than by wiggling from side to side. The boots are little rubber cylinders and the essential resistance is the same as the work involved in pulling a piston out of a cylinder that has no valve to let air in! This is why it's better to lift incrementally from both ends.
Installation is just the reverse procedure, except the DI can just be pressed straight down without worrying about wiggling side to side - should take no longer than 2 minutes to do.
Oh, one other thing: some people remove the negative ground to the battery (it's always best to use the negative because there are some solid-state circuits in the ECM that don't like electrons going in the wrong direction!) because of the high voltage issues with DI's. However, the only time the DI sees voltage is when the the engine is running or the plugs are being cleaned. If you've waited long enough for the engine to cool down, there's no chance of voltage being sent to the plugs - I've never disconnected the battery to change the DI. If your DI fails on the road, you may want to keep this in mind though. IIRC, the plug cleaning function only operates within the first few minutes of shutdown, or start-up.
