I had looked at the 9-5 SE V-6, and also the 9-5 Aero, and although Saab has really made an distinctive and attractive car in the 9-5, I have always liked the classic look of the Mercedes.

Not enough going on with the E320's V-6, although it offers more power than some V-8's, and has very good fuel economy. I looked at the E430 - very nice car. But after adding the options that I'd want, I figured why not cough up a little more and get the E55 AMG. I ordered mine last week.

Only 500 of these are imported to the U.S. each year, and therefore, there is a long wait for a delivery position. Mercedes/AMG also exports the ML55 AMG to the U.S. - in case you haven't seen one, this is the Mercedes SUV - well, the same body at least, as the ML 320 or 430, but with the E55's 5.5 liter AMG engine, which is a "stroked" 4.3 liter Mercedes engine, and then all of the AMG goodies. I believe that 2 more AMG'd Mercedes models will be available in the U.S. for year 2001 - the S55 (10"longer wheelbase than the E55) and the CLK 55 AMG Coupe.

This board has been very informative for me, and I greatly respect the Saab lovers that contribute so much. Any of you Saab folks have any experiences with the Mercedes models that I mentioned?
