Barry,
I think I understand how your phone is hooked up. I am not sure that you needed the seperate "music mute" box that you describe though. To get the phone voice to come through the radio speakers you will have to hook up the output from your handsfree kit to the Saab harness. By "Saab Harness" I am refering to the wiring harness that you bought from Saab for thirteen bucks or so. It should have come with a wiring diagram.
To do this on my Nokia kit I had to CUT the wire that lead to the Nokia speaker. In your case I see no reason why you could not do the same with the wire leading to the Ericcson speaker and hook it into the Saab harness.
Once you cut the Ericcson wire you will find two small conductors, one is pos and one is neg, that used to lead to the Ericsson speaker. Hook one up to the positive speaker lead on the Saab harness and the other up to the negative speaker lead of the harness. You are done.
You don't have to worry about too much about polarity, if you mess it up the voice will be 180 degrees out of phase. I doubt anyone would notice. I honestly don't know if my polarity is right since I never checked it.
If you want to be a perfectionist and you can access the speaker of the Ericsson kit you can figure out the phase with a small battery. Basically you hook the battery up and note the way in which the speaker moves. If it moves out the wire hooked to the positive terminal of the battery is on the positive lead, and neg on neg. If it moves inward you have the polarity reversed. Like I said though this does not really matter so I wouldn't bother. Take an eductated guess on the polarity based on the color of the wires. One of mine was red, so I figured it was the pos.
To get the mic to work is very similar. Cut the wire that leads to the Ericsson mic and connect the leads to the Saab harness. This time one of the conductors should be a bare wire that wraps around a small inner insulated wire. The bare wire is being used as a shield to prevent interference and is usually the negative lead. The inner conductor is usually the pos.
My mic was not hooked up from the factory and I saw a post from someone with a Viggen that did not even have a mic, so I would check to make sure it is there before cutting your Ericcson mic lead. To check, pull the edge of the overhead console closest to the front windshield down gently. Peek in and see if the mic is there/connected. If you want to take the console completely off there are two screws you must remove.
Now that all this is done are you still using the "music mute" box? If you are it would only be for the ground signal that tells the radio to mute. However I would guess that the "music mute" box gets that signal from the handsfree kit and you therefore could make that connection directly.

PS,
Hey where do you live? If it is anywhere near me I would not mind taking a day to hook it up for you. I am in MI. If you are near me post back and we can work something out through e-mail. I am going to be away for the holidays so I might not get right back to your post. If that doesn't work, and youpromise not to call at crazy hours I can give you my phone #, and you can have the installer call me while he is playing with your car.
