Maybe you have found the answer by now but, JIC here it is...you can get a new wiring harness and media gateway. The new harness connects to the back of the radio, then to the gateway then there is a cable from the gateway you can run to a convenient point (glovebox). This cable connects to the iPod/iPhone line out. It will charge the iPod and you can control from the factory radio. Now if I can just figure out how to get the dash apart so I can pull the radio. Anyone know?? BTW the part numbers are PGHGM5 for the harness and PXAMG for the Media Gateway.
