ELCD, Sender and pump Posted by mag [Email] (#1906) [Profile/Gallery] (more from mag) on Thu, 9 Jul 2009 14:51:48 In Reply to: Re: Ethanol in 1986 900T - what components are at risk?, saab86, Thu, 9 Jul 2009 04:09:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Thanks for the leads!
The pump is the greatest concern and unknown in my mind. So I'm looking for solid personal knowledge of failures or absence of failures over an extended period.
The apparently high failure rate of senders using common gas strongly suggests they are intolerant of any ethanol, or perhaps ethanol mixed in gas. That could probably be proved by a casual experiment with an old sender, tin snips and Everclear.
I will now characterize the sender as "probably vulnerable".
I had overlooked the ELCD. It involves a valve, hose, hoses and the case. the charcoal will be stable.
