Am I crazy to consider buying an old Saab 900? Among the only cars that ever really have caught my eye are the late vintage 9000s and the 1990-93 900s, probably non-turbo. I have never owned a Saab before, although I have test driven 9-3 and 9-5s before. The lease is coming up on my current vehicle. I was thinking, why not go for the one car I always wanted. I figure I could pick up a circa 1990 900 for a couple thousand and put a couple thousand in it. I tend to maintain cars well, and my driving habits are mellow. I was thinking of getting a 2005 9-5 but figure it may be too much of a financial risk in case Saab goes under, whereas the lower price tag on a 1990 900 provides more of a margin of safety. I live in the Chicagoland area, and there is a Saab mechanic near my office. What do you all think? I am in any way negligent to consider such an old car? Thanks for your reflections.
