That's pretty much the technique I use. There was even a printed set of step by step install instuctions in the storage bag. I seem to spend a lot of time tucking small folds of canvas under the cover sections in order for them to fit flush with the car. Even when everything is secured as it should be I can slip a couple of fingers under the leading edge of the side sections and pop them up (without pulling towards the center of the car) without a lot of effort. I worry air will get under there and lift them out of the spring clips. The small rear clips will do little to hold them in if they get a blast of 70MPH wind under them. I'll give it another try tonight. Perhaps the tension springs are bent a little out of shape.
