Alternator

Hello,
Have a 1993 with an alternator problem and this is driving Me nuts.
The Batt light comes on with the ign. in the on pos. but the alt. is not charging. I have replaced this alt. 3 times with different regulators and the car seems to be shorting out alternators.
I attempted a new regulator in the alt. and then a started to get a charge shortly but then rel. that the alt had crapped out. Checked all grounds and connections but nothing seems to be helping.
