Heater valve repair - will this work?
Posted by FiremanBob (more from FiremanBob) on Fri, 25 May 2012 10:37:34

Made a stupid noob mistake while installing a new water pump. I overtightened the hose clamp on one hose at the heater valve in the firewall. The tube broke off. The remaining stub is too short to hold the hose in place on the valve unit.

I was able to retrieve the broken bit of tube, and used Loctite plastic epoxy to glue it back in place. It's still drying.

Will this hold, or am I doomed to seeing it fail on a highway at night in a bad neighborhood?

The alternative is a new $100 part and about a day of labor to install it. Per Bentley, it requires removing underdash and driver's seat and working from under the steering column, which seems to be a PITA beyond belief.

Thanks.
