To paint or not to paint?

I enjoy my 1992 900S. It's a great car, mechanically very sound. Daily driver. 150k miles. I have nearly completed several minor cosmetic issues, tail light, molding, fog lamps, etc. I still need to replace the headliner. Everything works except the cruise control and there's annoying squeak in the hatchback area. The question is paint. It has peeling on the hood, roof and hatchback. I really don't want to spend 3k on a paint job and I'm not real keen on a Maaco job. What are my other options on the paint, if any? Thanks for any ideas.
