So, pulled out the 1988 TC that most of us believe is an SiS (but prior owner changed interior... shame). First thing my buddy asked was "are those ground effects original?"... to which I smiled and said "Absolutely, this is a special edition car."
A few times around the block to get the haze of rust off the brakes, and them WHAM..., the twisty turny Interboro/Jackie Robinson Express.
I forgot how much fun she was to drive, even with the temporary garrett turbo instead of a mitsu.
Moved the car 120 miles upstate, and had some quality time to play with her.
Not even an engine hiccup. Just fast, with super crisp steering. Even at higher speeds she just kept on giving without a problem. Tranny even shifted like silk. And turns at speed were like driving in train tracks. Car just holds the road like it is glued there.
Part of that is the 16 inch super aeros and the thinner profile Goodyear performance tires, and part is the rear spring airbag assists for the all around new springs.
After a few years of being away, I fell back in love, but it is bittersweet. Shame is that I just moved her to upstate indoor storage, as she is destined for sale or auction in the near future.
It was a fun ride though!
My buddy was driving chase car in his Mercedes, and he was unable to pull away or outhandle this 25 year old machine.
At the end he insisted on dropping the top for a quick drive just to see what she could do. He found the car hard to believe, given it is over 2 decades olde yet outhandles his new Merc.
Incredible.
Just wanted to share.
Best,
