FWIW, about a year and a half ago I bought a '90 C900 turbo vert in excellent condition and around 40K miles on the clock for around $7k. (Pics in my gallery.)I spent years waiting for a deal that made sense to me. And I had to fly to another state, hop a one way rental and drive the car home.
Even in that condition, it has some issues and I'll probably be putting another $1500 or so into it before I'm ready for maintenance only mode. And I don't drive it daily.
Also, I can't seem to get classic/collector's insurance on it yet, and I wonder if the companies that offer it be willing to do it even when it gets older. They didn't sound excited about SAAB. Anyway, that means that insuring it for decent value on a normal policy is expensive. They still call it a "turbo" and hit you up for a higher sports car rate, despite the increase in power of your average car on the road since the 80s/90s.
Let me be clear, I love my car. So the above is just cautionary advice to make sure you really want a C900.
