So my 92 900T while cruising along was suddenly was unresponsive with the gas pedal. It still was going a little at a higher speed but if I tried to accelerate it wouldn't like it. I was able to go this way for about 1/2 mile then I came to a stop sign and the slower I got it stalled out and wont start.
Had it towed back home. Quick check I did was at the fuel rail towards the radiator end I unscrewed the fitting. There was some gas under pressure still. Had someone crank the ignition and still more gas under pressure.
Then I unplugged the ignition wire from the cap that goes to the coil and put it against the block while someone cranked. Had spark there.
So I didn't check each individual wire but the cap, rotor and wires are relatively new. 2-3 years 70k.
I had a spare ignition module I think its called. The chip with heat sink on the fender. I changed that. No difference.
What should I do next? Check each wire I guess? Does the fact I have fuel in the rail under pressure mean the fuel pump is defiantly OK?
This happened last week. Sure enough my backup car, a 1991 Mercedes 300e did the same friggen thing today. I have more knowledge and a few parts for the Saab so I need to get on this tomorrow. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
