1) Ensure switches and connections are corrosion free and working. Switches are easy to open and file connectors and close. Do it on large clean well lit table to avoid loss of parts.
2) Ensure ground location behind radiator is corrosion free and working. This is a common fault area that messes up all electrics.
3) If you need to remove the window motor, get a friend to help or get duct tape to hold window up and prevent it from cutting off your hands and fingers, (this is not a joke). I tape a "U" from inner window, over the door frame, and onto the outer window. In a convertible there is no upper window frame so I run a strip of duct tape on the inner and out edges of the lower window edge and onto the door frame.
Unbolt the motor from door and then unbolt regulator from window. Now it's fiddle time to get the blasted thing out.
The motor can be opened and repaired. I posted this years ago under the name "Chaz". You open the motor, clean out the old hardened grease, and replace the brushes with GM old style alternator brushes that you must file to length and width as they are too big otherwise. The old brushes have wires that are crimped and soldered into place, so you need to use a pliers to uncrimp and the desolder. Place new brush wires in, crimp and solder. Ensure springs still are springy, and you might want to gently stretch them a bit so they remember how to do their job again. Hold brushes in "DOWN" position with a paper clip and re-assemble. (Motor spindle wants to hit magnets on sides to you will need a few tries to get it down the center.) If motor rotor is corroded, gently sand magnets and ferrous parts to remove rust and allow resistance free replacement.
Once re-assembled and bolted closed, pull the paper clip to release the brushes and hook to battery to ensure the repair works.
Then re-insert into regulator and close regulator to allow easier fitment into car. Attach regulator to car door. REMOVE FINGERS AND HANDS AND BODY PARTS FROM THE DOOR!!! Attach electrics and move regulator up a bit closer to window. WITH AN ASSISTANT, lower window onto regulator and re-bolt, (this is where you can smash window or tear off fingers, seriously).
This is what I have done, and it has always worked well.
Best,
