Re: Wideband won't hurt, but it probably won't help... I'm have a California '87T (LH2.2), I've had a wideband O2 sensor for >10 years, it's installed in the down pipe about 12 inches after the turbo elbow, gauge is in the glovebox. The emission folks have never had anything to say about it, even though it is in plain sight. They do care about the regular O2 sensor, having a stock air filter assy, and last time they even checked the timing (or pretended to, it's hard for them to gain access to the inspection window, and I have a lightened flywheel with no timing marks other than a very faint score marking TDC). I seriously doubt any of those guys would be able to monitor output voltage from the AMM, and if they did they wouldn't know how to interpret it.
All the wideband will tell you is how rich or how lean you are--- if it is way out I suppose you could start looking for problems with fueling etc. But it is just another diagnostic point. Can't you just try another AMM and see if that helps?
