I think Landjet has nailed it--- your timing or vac advance (or AMM) are likely causes of pinging. The only time I ever had pinging was when I had way too advanced timing, also when I had a non-functioning vacuum capsule. One of the problems with LH2.2 is the timing is strictly mechanical, totally independent of the ECU. You can try setting it back to 16, then use a minivac on the distributor line to see what the vac advance/retard is doing to the timing at different pressures. As for the AMM, the only easy way to check that out is to substitute a known good unit (borrowed?) and see if that helps.
