Go to Saab World . net. They have a good brakes info page in the c900 tutorial section. I wrote it.
There are a couple of options for "upgrades". Toyota 1986 V6 4WD pickup front calipers will work. I prefer these over Wilwoods, which do not have dustboots and are unsuitable for street use. The Wilwoods should be considered as "event" calipers, good for high temp and pressure for a day or two, but must be rebuilt often and not really up to the day-to-day grind of constant use and neglect.
My general experience is that all reman'd calipers are junk these days, for various reasons. Pistons badly pitted, yokes loose, etc.
Try rebuilding the calipers yourself. Use Castrol/Girling red rubber grease when you do. Pack the E-brake lever chamber with grease (this never sees brake fluid and doesn't need to seal well). Make sure the pushrod and pistons are free of corrosion. They're already chrome plated from the factory. The condition of the bores shouldn't matter as much, as long as they're free of loose rust and severe pitting. Mild pitting is OK. Considering all the calipers you've gone through, you must have a few cores to work with. If not, go to the junkyard. They are easy to remove and disassemble to inspect right in the junkyard so you only need to buy if they're good. I have gotten upwards of 10 years out of all the calipers I've rebuilt myself.
