IMPROVING POSSIBLE FUTURE OVERHEATING... Posted by masonfisk [Email] (#298) [Profile/Gallery] (more from masonfisk) on Wed, 20 Apr 2016 14:13:50 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hiya gang, a few months ago I had the engine on my '93 900 S pulled out to fix multiple oil leaks and during the last few months I've begun trying to improve upon what I have.
I've changed the headlight bulbs & several others to LED lights. I got a stronger gel battery to improve energy efficiency in the vehicle but now I'd like to see if I can do something about the motor running warm.
During the winter months, the car runs at close to midway on the temperature indicator or below that.
But then in the summer months, which we're about to enter, the temp line runs nearly to the red (when I'm a traffic light) but the fans cool it off.
The rad was checked & flushed when I had the engine repair but I don't know how old it is.
Could I put in a newer rad/cooling fans to better regulate the temps on the car?
Or bottom line, is this just the nature of the beast, the 900's just tend to run like that through the warmer months.
Any thoughts, suggestions?
Thanks for anything as always in advance.
