In addition to tips in the original thread...

I would stress that the first things to go (after disconnecting the battery and alt wires) is to remove the hoses, remove the entire alternator tension adjustment arm, and lift the compressor up and out of the way (2 bolts top of the bracket (allen key, except a previous mechanic had changed mine to 13mm bolts), 12mm at the bottom (luckily my bracket was slotted already), and then I just rested the assembly on a 2x4 over the block to windshield. Pull off all the belts if you are changing them anyway (might as well unless the alt/waterpump belts are very new). All of this gives way more room to work, and I wish I had removed more earlier.
I used the "twist the mount" technique to remove the "17mm" bolt (eg as per Townsend)... though my bolt was imperial, with 5/8" nuts, installed presumably by the dealer when they swapped the alt more than a decade and a half ago!
Anders removes the whole mount with the alt. It wasn't clear to me how he accessed the lower bolt on the mount, and in my case, the first allen key (by the oil filter) was horrendous to remove (seized), so I opted for the twist method vs tackling 2 bad allens, but for others... a clear explanation of how Anders gets the lowest bolt on the mount:

Some useful info from Tom Townsend (parts of this overlap with alternator):

And Bernie, re belts:

Most say loop them crank/alt/water, but I found it easier to do alt last (pushing it against the block). Easy to get the belts crossed at the crank pulley - I initially saw a slight difference in tension between the belts with them on before tightening and sure enough in back behind underneath, they were crossed, though they looked good from the alternator side.
Another good step by step:

Overall, for the bushings alone, this was a useful exercise. I did this over a number of spread out evenings, as we have 1 more car than drivers, so there was no time pressure! Didn't solve my charging issues though... links to the future:
