Anyone install one of these? I helped a friend (a mechanical engineer) with one a couple weeks ago. He had a noisy fan early this year. Ordered one from eEuro. Said it looked junky so called eEuro and sent it back for another one. A box came back about the same time his spare driver pickup was rear ended. He ended working on the truck all summer and the Saab fan job went on the back burner. We got together for a Saab party to install the fan. He pulled out the box with the replacement fan-he hadn't opened the box- and it was a VDO 'made in China'. He looked at it and said it looked like the same junky one he'd sent back. Holding this new VDO next to OE it was obvious it wouldn't work. The VDO fan cage was a 1/4" further out the shaft. And the VDO cage was about a 1/4" less in height so maybe less air flow?. We placed the fan in the heater box hole and the cage bottomed out before the flange met the box. He took the fan to his bench and was able to tap it 1/4" down the shaft. Put back it in the hole and it ran without noise. I had to leave then party. Found out later he installed it and when the flange screws were all tightened it cocked the shaft slightly sideways and was rubbing again. The mounting flange wasn't quite 90 degrees to the shaft. Take it out again. More adjustments. Last I heard it was quiet.
