New (to me) 92 turbo convertible. First fillup brought the gauge to the appropriate full reading. 15 miles later gauge dropped to half. Turning off then on changes the reading to over half, and then I watch it slowly drop. No tank or line leaks, runs great, and the former owner says he got full range from the tankfull, just never trusted the gauge.
Does this sound like a wiring issue or a sender problem? I have yet to remove the floor and test the resistance at the sender. However as I am getting a reading, albeit incorrect, I assume the sender has not fallen apart into the tank.
Perhaps a light tap or two with a small hammer...
