SPG with lowered rear - Saabnet.com Bulletin Board
My daily driver gradually got lower and lower in the rear end this winter. Last week I noticed it was riding harsher and there was very little tire sidewall rubber showing at the top of the wheel arch. Turns out the upper coil spring perches rusted away and the spring was against the bottom of the floor. I made up some reinforced floor plates and gussets, welded them into place and then put some 1 1/2" square tube spacers and attached the spring perches. I gained my ride height back and should last a while. If anyone wants to lower their ride, do not cut your springs, just relocated the upper spring perch. 1 1/2" at the spring boosted my ride height about 3".
