I think the potential for problems in a c900 hydraulic system rises when they sit for a long time without use. The rubber seals may have been on the verge of failing when you parked it back in October.
I've never suffered a leak like that from a long-idle 900 but there were some funky hydraulic situations back when I had multiple 99s in various states of repair and mothball status. Fresh brake fluid circulated through the entire system prior to a mothballing was a little more confidence-inspiring but I never assumed everything would automatically and immediately resume full operational status after a long park. I felt lucky when I did get a way with it.
There may have been (a tiny amount of) water in your brake fluid that caused a sufficient pitting spot that in turn created enough friction on your master seals to cause a thin or weak spot.
10 years of use? That's a decent stretch of time.
