Are you trying to use a newer lever arm float sender in a c900? Or, the original cylindrical metal can type with an internal float?
If you are using the original cylindrical can type, the float can loose floatation and fail to rise to the top. And/or, the float can hang up on the center post or outside cylinder if it has a ding in it. Bentley has a method for checking the gauge by shorting the wires at the tank in sequence to indicate empty or full. If you did that and the gauge checked out, you don't have a wiring problem. You can also check the can type by carefully tilting it until you hear the float sliding inside and watch the gauge. But, that may not disprove a floatation or hanging up situation in normal use.
I have no experience with the lever type in a c900 or if they can even be used but surmise it may not have sufficient clearance to fully cycle???
