Update: radiator fan is flaking out Posted by Jason 5W-30 [Email] (#2180) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Jason 5W-30) on Mon, 26 Jun 2017 07:14:10 In Reply to: Normal reading for temp gauge? 1992 900 S Conv, Jason 5W-30 [Profile/Gallery] , Sun, 25 Jun 2017 13:40:27 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So it turns out the radiator fan was flaking out and then finally quit altogether.
The 30 amp fuse was blown, and when I went to put in a spare, the fan came back to life, but only briefly, and it sounded like it was really struggling.
(BTW: I love that the fusebox is clearly labeled, easily visible, and easy to access! And that SAAB included spares!)
Anyhow, the fuse later blew again.
What's great is there is a backup fan, of sorts! Switching on the A/C turns on the condenser fan, and the temp gauge stayed just about at the halfway mark.
Loving this car!
The service manual makes it appear that swapping out the fan is pretty straightforward; any tips?
Any good places to order a replacement from online? (site sponsors perhaps?)
Thanks,
Jason
