Here's a link to some good photos and procedure as to how to repair the switch. However,the poster makes reference to this,which may be your problem:
"If you look at the last of my pictures you will see a white component at the bottom with a spring attached both sides. The little lever is an extension of this that sticks out of the other side of the casting. I have had one break in the past and then the self-cancelling will not work. This lever engages with a pin on the steering boss. You will need to get another switch if this is broken. Can't believe it would ever be available as a spare part."
