I believe the dyes they use are aniline dies, so yes, they are water-based. Aniline dyes are used on leather as well. Unfortunately, there is no other commercially available way to redye nylon carpet, so this is our only option. As long as the object being dyed stays dry, that shouldn't be a problem. If you have water issues with the car, the dye will bleed. Did you take out your floor rusters? If there is moisture behind the carpet, the dye probably won't set properly. Most people doing a thorough job also take the carpeting out of the car completely to redye it and let it set in the sun for a while. Is that what you did?
