And to make it a little easier, you can purchase fabricated metal pieces that duplicate parts of your rotten drive tunnel/wheel-arch interior (such as on the Skandix website and some other retailers).
This would make it a little easier for a hesitant or reluctant welder.
There have been posts here where people show the end results of their cutout and welding work. Usually looks great and after covering with undercoating, the average person wouldn't be able to tell what/where the repair happened (though I doubt any "average" person is going to be poking their heads into Saab wheel wells).
I say fix it, sounds too good to junk or scrap.
