You might wanna do a test for signal at the Hall sensor connection. In the Bentley, page something-something...

I'm not 100% sure this is the problem but it's a good spot to verify.
I went through some fail-to-start routines when the original distributor on my 87 turbo started to fail. Would work for one start-up, then not work 40 minutes later on the next start-up.
Finally it was a complete fail while accelerating onto the freeway that proved the distributor (Hall sensor) was unreliable. I had the replacement unit and parts in the trunk to rig up a fix right there (it was really a case of delayed/procrastinated maintenance because of my own laziness).
