Need to rewire front seat conectors: 1992 S convertible Posted by Saana88 [Email] (#207) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Saana88) on Tue, 12 Sep 2017 20:28:36 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The fun continues.
After quite a bit of time away, I'm trying to reestablish a presence around here. I hope nobody minds.
I am determined to get my 1992 S convertible past 150k this year. Last year she had a garage in which to sleep, after seven years outdoors. Unfortunately, I decided to replace the flexible brake lines, and the project took forever, and the car didn't get driven much.
Anyway, I purchased some seats to replace the originals. They're in decent shape, but some of the wiring connectors need to be replaced. The passenger seat had half of its wires cut off instead of, heaven forbid, separating the two halves of the connectors as designed.
Last night I got what I could out of Bentley's wiring diagrams. The heated seat section tells me what half of the eight-pin connectors' wires do, and the burglar alarm schematic keyed me in to some of the extra goodies under the passenger's seat.
I need to re-wire the passenger seat's three-pin connector to power the passenger seat. There are no wiring diagrams for the silly power seats.
Could someone with a 1992-94 convertible confirm that the connectors under the passenger's seat have the following configurations (talking right hand drive, of course):
Eight pin connector (seat heaters): yellow to 2, yellow-white 5
Three pin connector (power seats): black 1 (two wires, one heavier), red 3
I want to make sure I don't damage, melt or burn the new installations. Thankfully everyone's favorite siteE sponsor has the four-pin connector bodies on sale, and the three-pin terminals are available by searching for their part number.
Finally, does anyone know if the metal crimped connectors are still available? By any chance are they either parts 12790414, 12789796, 12789934, or 12790614?
The microphone wire is coaxial cable, that will be fun.
The alarm mode button connector is a two-pin miniature connector, that's intact.
This is a fun project. Any help with those connector part numbers would be much appreciated.
